i. Place the cottage roll in a large pot and cover with water. (Optional: add bay leaves, peppercorns, or garlic for extra flavor.) Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently.
ii. Simmer for 60–75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
iii. Remove from water and let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
iv. Cooking times may vary with different appliances. Adjustments may be necessary to achieve desired results.
Optional Finishing Tip – For a Crispy Top
Oven: Place the boiled roll fat side up on a baking tray and roast at 425°F (220°C) for 10–15 minutes, until the top is lightly browned.
Air Fryer: Place fat side up in the basket and air fry at 400°F (205°C) for 5–8 minutes, checking frequently to avoid over-browning.
